Talent On Tap: October ’25

TALENT ON TAP // NEW MUSIC FOR OCTOBER

Words by Emily Halloran | Cover: Eyesite

October’s Gold Coast music scene is buzzing with fresh releases, and this month’s Talent on Tap highlights a mix of bold debuts, ambitious albums, and high-energy singles.

Local artists are pushing boundaries, blending genres, and exploring new ideas, creating a soundscape that feels both exciting and unpredictable.

From singles to full-length albums, October’s Talent On Tap gives listeners a chance to hear what’s new, discover emerging voices, and enjoy a mix of styles coming out of the Gold Coast.

OCTOBER SPOTLIGHT: TYGHE – BURNT

BURNT is the 20-track album from Tyghe, an indie rapper with a massive title of doing it all  singing, songwriting, producing, a multi-instrumentalist and beatmaker. BURNT was entirely self-produced and blends rap with piano (he noted piano plays a prominent role in production choice), layered instrumentation, and sharp hooks to create a sound that’s as emotionally deep as it is musically rich. BURNT unpacks personal hardship, self-reflection, and growth, delivering an album that feels both raw and expansive. The album’s core theme is the idea of having to burn down what you love to create something new—a concept mirrored in the natural imagery that has always inspired Tyghe’s music.

Since launching his solo career in March 2023, Tyghe has released nine singles and his debut 15-track album BRISK, including fan-favourite Enter, attracting over 6,300 monthly Spotify listeners. With BURNT, he’s taken everything he’s learned and pushed it further, producing a conceptual and ambitious work that proves Tyghe isn’t just making music, he’s making statements.

NEW TRACKS

CAN WE TALK ABOUT LYRIC?!

Our Gold Coast pop superstar, Lyric, had a huge week recently, featuring on triple j’s Like A Version and releasing a four-track EP, The Real You. A collection of tracks that blend heartfelt lyricism with infectious melodies, the EP showcases her growth as a singer-songwriter while staying true to her powerful vocal range and relatable pop sound that is so loved. All four songs, Make A Move, Friends, Homesick and title track The Real You, are being spun on national radio on rotation and greatly adored on streaming platforms. Lyric also made waves on Like A Version, covering Lorde’s iconic song Ribs, earning more national attention.

Lyric has been destined for this level of growth, taking out the Gold Coast Music Awards’ Gold Coast Music Prize in 2023, People’s Choice Award in 2023 and 2024, and being named a finalist in three categories in 2024. We’re so proud of you, Lyric!

DREAMY COUNTRY NEWCOMERS

Introducing newcomers to the Gold Coast music scene, Seajem Sounds a young band who are making moves with their debut original single The Door, a heartfelt, delicate and dreamy country track. Seajem Sounds are a five-piece band fronted by sisters Chelsea and Jemilla Cunningham, alongside Noah Dunlop, Loki Gibson and Oscar Kelly. They formed the band through high school and over the years have been notable for performing country-style covers. The Door is Seajem Sounds’ first original song, an idea by Loki and Noah, worked on after busking on Tamworth’s Boulevard of Dreams (Peel St) during the 2025 Tamworth Country Music Festival. Before dropping on streaming platforms, The Door picked up national attention, on rotation on ABC Country and featuring on the program Saturday Night Country. “[The Door is] uplifting. It’s about realising that even when love feels gone, there’s still something bright around the corner,” Noah said. Congratulations Seajem Sounds!

HEARING IS MORE THAN JUST SOUND

Lip Reading by Cold Ghost explores the almost unconscious human skills of… you guessed it, reading lips. Released during National Week of Deaf People (NWDP), it’s a thoughtful and atmospheric track. The track is released following last month’s Headphones, another song about hearing. Cold Ghost, aka. Fletch lost his hearing in one ear at just two years old and we’re sensing hints his forthcoming album project is themed around all things hearing – noise, sound, music and how we as listeners, listen.

ALBII’S TAKE ON GIRLY POP

Fun, flirty and playfully chaotic, I Got A Crush takes ALBII into a slightly new sound in the world of girly-pop. Moving out of ALBII’s distinct darker pop sound reminiscent of Billie Eilish, this single is infectious taking a lighter, brighter tone full of upbeat melodies, but still honours their punchy and witty lyrics. Marking ALBII’s third release since February, the track is about falling in love with a girl in a movie and imagining a relationship with someone who doesn’t exactly exist. Accompanying the release is a music video that offers a glimpse into the quirky charm fans have come to love.

RONAN’S NEW EP + HEADLINE TOUR

Experimentation is at the core of Ronan Maclean’s THE MANIAC EP. Three tracks, it’s fun and full of bite – heavy on the dance pop combined with punchy rock. Recorded entirely in the backseat of his car, THE MANIC EP marks a first for Ronan after releasing nine singles since producing music in 2022. “It’s called THE MANIAC EP because every song is unique. I’m just experimenting, making whatever I think is cool. The one thing I can promise is that every song will be stuck in your head,” says Ronan. To celebrate the EP debut, Ronan went on an East Coast tour which has done so well, he’s added three more dates in October and November.

A DEBUT FOR GIGI

16-year-old Gigi Jacobson, under the artist name of Giséle, has released her first-ever song, Scared. It’s a sonically layered pop track about the highs and lows of high school friendship, and how sometimes people act differently outside of the classroom. It’s catchy and showcases Gigi’s beautiful vocals, filled with storytelling lyrics that feel as if they’re straight from a diary entry, and marks a confident first step from an emerging voice in Gold Coast pop.

NEW PUNCHY ALT-ROCK

Our mates from Kingscliff, Eyesite, are back with a seven-track EP and a string of shows to celebrate. Figure Eight is noisy, rowdy and full of rifts. It starts with a loud and grungy track, Pines, and follows into heavy-hitting and energetic Sweat It Out. I Am Pretend is equally as noisy and more punk-led. An acoustic version of Sweat It Out sends out the EP, ending on a darker, deeper and rawer note. Almost hitting 1,000 listeners on Spotify each month, Eyesite have already taken the stage at Rattlesnake in Coolangatta, the Brunswick Hotel (supporting Pacific Avenue), and the Sunny Coast’s Sol Bar (alongside Pity Vincent). And, on October 4 they will be supporting Australian rock icons, The Screaming Jets at Kingscliff Hotel

FULL SPEED AHEAD

Gold Coast’s EDM queen Grace Luisa has teamed up with her husband and collaborator, Baut, to drop a super fast-paced drum and bass dance anthem this month, RUN FAST. As the title suggests, it’s adrenaline-fuelled and backed with Grace’s sweet vocals while also featuring a heavy bout from Baut. This is Grace’s third single release for 2025, marking an 18th single since 2021. We can’t get enough of Grace and we’re wondering if an album is in the works?

SMOOTH & GROOVY

Alanah Stone flips a toxic love story into a groovy dancefloor tune with WOLFBOY. It starts with smooth vocals before bringing in momentum with seductive, infectious and slick rhythm. The release gives a first taste of a forthcoming four-track project, with Alanah saying “the track dives into the psyche of a self-absorbed lover—someone convinced the relationship revolves solely around him”.

SUNSHINE POP FROM SUNNY LUWE

Sunny Luwe proudly says her new release, It Won’t Be Long Til I See You Again, is “the best song I’ve ever written”. True to Sunny’s sunshine pop style that we know and love, it’s powerful, catchy and a positive anthem. It starts off sweet and gentle, bearing Sunny’s raw vocals before launching into the fun of the catchy melody and sing-a-long lyrics. Stay tuned, Sunny Luwe has shared with us there is an album in the making which is being released very, very soon!

DEMANDING A LISTEN

Unrelenting, chaotic and raw – it must be Birds Are Fake. The heavy-hitting punk band are back with a two-minute track demanding urgent attention to be heard, Subliminal Warning. The song is about consumer culture and the ‘psychological machinery behind modern propaganda’. Weaving sharp imagery with a chorus that challenges listeners to ‘wake up’, Subliminal Warning captures the chaos of the times with a rallying cry.

SIX-STRONG INSTRUMENTAL

Guitarist Robbie Bostock puts his decades of live and session experience into the spotlight with Chillagoe Breakdown. The instrumental track blends country picking and blues-rock grit, rolling from sharp riffs into free-flowing energy. The completely instrumental 2:30 track was produced and mixed in his own studio. It’s a high-octane showcase of six-string precision, proving that sometimes the guitar says it best.

A NEW MUSIC PROJECT

Known as one half of Bri & Si, Simon D steps into his solo project with EP Every Day Is Some Day. Across four tracks, the EP showcases genre-blending soundscapes with synth-pop, dub, psychedelia and experimental textures, from the shimmering hooks of the title track to the immersive groove of The Tentacles of Oz. Released via Home Hearing Records, the EP pushes boundaries while embracing eclectic sounds, marking a strong step forward for Simon D’s evolving voice.

BROODING ALT-ROCK

Wolves of Exile return with Waco City Blues, a brooding, guitar-driven anthem that blends alt-rock grit with cinematic storytelling. It’s dark, moody and atmospheric with layered instrumentation that explores city life. The track is a perfect showcase of Wolves of Exile’s knack for balancing intensity with melody. It’s the fourth release since the band formed in 2020 and we can’t wait to hear more.
