Sundown brings the heat to Southport this July

Good Vibes. Great Music. No Tickets Required. Southport is about to throw one hell of a street party.

Your winter plans? Sorted. On Saturday 18 July, Southport is throwing one of the Gold Coast’s biggest street parties, and the best part? It won’t cost you a cent.

Back for its third year, Sundown has quickly become one of the Gold Coast’s favourite live music events, even earning a finalist spot for People’s Choice Festival of the Year at the Queensland Music Awards. And judging by this year’s lineup, it’s only getting bigger.

If your ideal Saturday involves live music, a buzzing crowd and discovering a new fave band with mates, this one deserves a spot in your calendar.

Headlining Sundown this year is indie rock outfit Pacific Avenue, fresh off the release of their latest album Lovesick Sentimental. Expect a set packed with the infectious indie anthems that have made them one of Australia’s fastest-rising live acts.

Joining the lineup are Letters to Lions, The Colliflowers, and Gold Coast locals Laurel Hill, Yours to Keep and HAEL, celebrating emerging homegrown talent that’s expected to draw a crowd of Aussie music lovers. Trust us, you’ll want to get there early.

And there’s plenty happening between sets…

Artists from SURFACE Festival will bring the precinct to life with bold street art installations, while the merge Laneway Takeover will keep crowds moving in the laneway with a curated showcase of emerging Australian producers from 6pm to 8pm.

When hunger strikes, you’ll find plenty of street eats from local food vendors alongside drinks from Miami Booze Traders, Carafe Wine and Precinct Brewing Co.

Not ready for the night to end? Head for Sundown kick-ons at Mr PPsLast Night on Earth or Vinnies, giving you every excuse to stay out long after the final set.

The festival kicks off from 3.30pm. With free entry, no tickets and no age restrictions (Under 16’s must be accompanied by a responsible adult), round up your crew, discover your next favourite band and soak up the Sundown atmosphere as Southport comes alive.
